After actor Mahesh Anand was found dead in his Versova
flat, a post-mortem report conducted by the doctors suggested that the actor
died naturally and ruled out any foul play. However, they have preserved
viscera samples to investigate the exact cause of death. The initial
investigations by the police and circumstantial evidence also suggest that the
actor died in a very tragic and lonely way.
The cops also said that the actor's wife, who stays in
Russia, is likely to come on Monday and perform Anand's final rites. Several of
his fans took to social media to remember different roles played by the actor
in 80s and 90s.
The 57-year-old actor lived alone in his flat at Kinara
apartments, Versova. A police officer said, "On Saturday when the maid
reached the flat, she did not get any response and kept ringing the bell. After
getting no response, the Versova police was informed, with the help of the fire
brigade, they opened the door. The TV in the house was on."
The body had started to decompose. Anand was found wearing
a track suit and plates were found next to his body. It suggested that he had
just finished eating his food. A bottle of liquor was also found next to him.
The cops checked his WhatsApp last scene time stamp, which said Thursday,
suggesting he may have passed away the following day or same day.
Two tiffin boxes were found kept outside his flat, which
had not been collected by him for the past days.
Anand has appeared alongside top stars including Amitabh
Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt and Govinda in films like Shahenshah (1988), Thanedaar
(1990), Vishwatma (1992), Gumrah (1993), Khuddar (1994), Coolie No 1 (1995) and
Vijeta (1996).
However, Anand had been facing major financial issues for
the last several years and even had a drinking problem, according to ANI. His
last film Pahlaj Nihalani's production Rangeela Raja featuring Govinda in the
lead role, which released on January 18, was his first appearance on the big
screen in 18 years.
